Stamp Out Hunger with Your Mail Carrier

On the second Saturday in May, leave a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox to help feed neighbors in our community.

Stamp Out Hunger is the nation's largest one-day food drive. Every year, letter carriers across the country collect food donations left by residents near their mailboxes to support local hunger relief efforts.

Participating is easy:

  • Fill our brown paper Stamp Out Hunger bag with non-perishable food.
  • Place it by your mailbox before your regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 9th.
  • Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to us to distribute to local pantries.

FAQs

  • What if I don't receive a Stamp Out Hunger bag?
    • That's okay, you do not need a special Stamp Out Hunger bag to participate! If you misplaced yours or didn't receive one, you can place your donation in a sturdy paper bag, plastic bag, box, or another secure container.
  • What if it's raining?
    • Rain or shine, the food drive still happens. If possible, place your donation in a plastic or weather-friendly bag.
  • What if I forget or miss it?
    • You can still help! Simply drop off your donations at the food bank Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm, and we'll get it where it needs to go.
  • What if I have a cluster mailbox or shared mailbox?
    • Unfortunately, we do not send out Stamp Out Hunger bags to people who don't have an individual curbside mailbox. However, that doesn't mean we don't need your help! You can still support our mission by making an online gift, hosting a virtual food drive, or bringing non-perishable food directly to the food bank Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm
  • What time should I put my donation out?
    • Place your bag out well before your normal mail delivery time. The earlier the better, with 9 a.m. as a good rule of thumb.
  • What if my donation isn't picked up?
    • Because participation is voluntary and routes can vary, some donatins may occasionally be missed. If you find your donations were left, feel free to drop them off at the food bank Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm.
